The FNLC will be hosting community engagement sessions as we work toward developing the BC First Nations Climate Change Strategy and Action Plan, as mandated by Chiefs-in-Assembly in 2019 and the UBCIC Chiefs Council.
The objective of these sessions is to seek input from First Nations and identify perspectives on the impacts of climate change and priorities for climate action. These sessions will also showcase important information on emission reduction and climate change adaptation initiatives, and by way of information sharing, will support BC First Nations in developing their own strategies and plans to implement responses to the climate crisis.
LOCATION: Webinars via Zoom. Individual meetings will be conducted for those unable to attend the online sessions and upon request.
WHO: We encourage multiple representatives from your Nation to participate. This includes BC Chiefs, Councils, hereditary/traditional leadership, staff members, youth, Elders, knowledge keepers and women.
Session 1: February 5, 2021 (Region: Coast)
Session 2: February 12, 2021 (Region: Interior)
Session 3: February 16, 2021 (Region: North)
